Warsaw, the resurrection of a destroyed old town

I do not believe in rebirth of human beings, but I saw today the “resurrection” of the old town in Warsaw, Poland. During the Second World War, about 75% of Warsaw was destroyed by bombs and of the old town in the city even 85%. My guide walking tour shown some pictures of that time, there was no one building standing any more.
To rebuilt the city with skylines it was not difficult now day, but to reconstruct in details an old town is a big challenge.
Street by street, stone by stone, house by house, the people rebuild the old town and the castle and if one does not know that it is a new construction, he might think: Woww, how old and romantic is this old town!
Even the Enesco was so surprised of the resurrection of the old town of Warsaw that they put it in to the list of the World Heritage Sites.
Congratulations to the human beings that can not only destroy cities but can also recreate them again as they would never been destroyed.

  1. Wow what an eye opener and how wonderful to read that the people of Warsaw recreated and rebuilt their old city, which is their own history. I believe that this is very rare to happen. In most cases, cities are rebuilt using modern architecture. I take my hat off and congratulate the people of Warsaw.
